IB22 Industrial Charm

Happy Thursday, peeps!  Gosh, can you believe it's the last day of May!  Time flies!  And time for another Inspired By challenge!  A bit of an eclectic feel to my card today:

This was a fun one to make!! I used lots of different stamps, some are really old ones, too!  Here's Laurel's inspiration photo:

Image may contain: text

There are so many inspiring elements in this photo!!!  I wanted to do that cute little umbrella, but I have NO umbrella stamps at all...can you believe it?  So instead, I went for that warm natural brown color, black and white, and the line-drawing elements!  I pulled in a few of the other elements as well...dots, white on black, frames, well, you get the picture!

My bird is from Red Lead Paperworks; leaf is Vintage Leaves from SU, stamped in Hello Honey on Kraft paper and diecut with the Leaflets Framelits.  The frame is an old die from My Favorite Things, and I used a WHEEL from SU to stamp the musical notes in Craft White ink!!  When was the last time you used a wheel?!

The "bird" was from the same Red Lead stamp, and it was diecut with the Stitched Labels die; the "song" was stamped with the retired Simple Serif Alphabet set and hand-cut.  "To Cheer You" is from Our Daily Bread Designs and the speckles are from a Paper Pumpkin set.  I added some burlap ribbon and although it's hard to see, a faceted embellishment:

It's all mounted on a Thick White card, I just love this stuff, it's really sturdy and stands up well!

How will this photo inspire you?  I hope you'll play along with us, I just can't wait to see what your creative minds will come up with!!!  Share it with us at Inspired By!!

Thanks to Miss Sandy for these cool multi-colored lead pencils!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CASology 302 and SIP152 Smile

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  I have a bright, happy CAS creation for you today using the colors from Stamp Ink Paper and the cue of "squiggle" from CASology:

When I checked the samples from the CASology blog, the term "squiggle" looked like it was used pretty loosely, LOL, so I thought it would be okay to use some new MFT dies that I just got.  So here we go:

My "squiggle" is the wonky stitching around the edge of the center panel; I added elements in the challenge colors with some flowers in Highland Heather, a pretty new SU color, Lemon Lime Twist and Coastal Cabana, which is returning (YAY!):

The "smile" die was a free gift, so I put that to good use, embellishing it with a little flower too!

On the inside, I stamped a greeting from Stitched All Around:

I resisted putting any other embellishments on, as it is supposed to be CAS!  Thanks for popping in today!

A few more pictures from the Apron Strings;  this little cutie is Piper, and she is my friends' Robyn and Claudia's granddaughter...yes, we have lots of families whose children grew up in church and went on to get married to each other!  Anyway, Piper was proud to show off her "Chef Piper" apron:

After Piper showed us her apron, Mom Mom Robyn showed us an apron that her grandmother made for her when Robyn was three years old:

When Piper saw the little apron, she piped up, "MomMom, you should give that apron to ME!"  We cracked up!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

CC&S274 Hip Hello

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  Does it feel like Monday to you?  It does to me....and this dreary, damp, no-sunshiney weather is doing a number on me!!!  AND no sun predicted all week!  GAH!  Well, at least the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge has a couple of sunny colors in their fun, interesting  double challenge this week:

I found this lined paper in my DSP stash that pretty much matched Hello Honey, and I stamped flowers from the retired Array of Sunshine directly on to the paper in Tangelo Twist and Going Gray:

I added a double-layer Hip Hello diecut (Poppystamps) in Hello Honey, added a few more leaves on the card base and finished it off with some Tangelo Twist ribbon and Going Gray candy dots:

Oh, and I added a little stitched diecut border at the bottom of my panel!!!  This was an interested color combo to work with, but I enjoyed it!

I have been wanting to post a few pictures of a little event we had at our church a couple weeks ago, but haven't had time! We had a "Daughters of the King" banquet, which is sort of like a mother-daughter banquet, prepared for us by the men of the church, and afterwards, we had a program called "Apron Strings"!  It was given by a set of 85-year-old Mennonite twins named Viola and Verna:

They read us poems and stories about aprons, shared their collection of aprons, and we had been told ahead of time to bring our own aprons to share!  Here are a few of theirs:

The three above were embroidered  gingham (what I might call chicken scratch), but they also had little canvas aprons that were nailbags, and they even had one for children:

They even shared quilts that they made featuring aprons!!

I'll share a few more pics later!  Thanks for popping in and enjoy your day!  Be blessed!

CTS273 and FF138 A Big Hooray

Happy Monday, peeps, and Happy Memorial Day if you live in the states!  We have nothing planned today, so it's a lazy day!  I should straighten up my craft room though!!  Anyway, here's a quick graduation card using the CAS(E) This Sketch sketch and the colors from Fab Friday:

My sentiment is from the retired Perfectly Wrapped, as are the horizontal doodads; the florals are from the retired Bordering Blooms:

I stamped the solid images in the challenge colors, then colored in the outline images with SU markers:

I used a variety of sets to stamp the inside sentiments and then added a little fussy-cut grad hat:

Thanks for popping in today!!

PP395 A Sketch from Me!

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope your weekend is going well!  I am the hostess at the Paper Players this week and I have a sketch for you:

I am slowly but surely breaking into some of the new colors that will be available in the upcoming catalog!  My card today highlights the new In Color, Blueberry Bushel...a nice bright blue that works great for boys' cards, which is exactly what I created with it:

Doesn't that little Bella look sweet?  I think he's offering someone his dog bone as a birthday gift!  I stamped him in Memento Black ink and colored him with Light & Dark Crumb Cake Blends, then added some color with a blender pen and some ink for his collar and heart.  The grass was drawn in with Light & Dark Old Olive Blends:

The sentiment is from the new set Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped in Blueberry Bushel and diecut with the retired Bitty Banners die. I didn't have any Real Red Candy Dots left in my stash, but I did have some Melon Mambo ones, so I took my Dark Cherry Cobbler Blend and "adjusted" the color a little bit...such a great way to customize your embellishments!  The DSP is from the new In Color pack in Blueberry Bushel as well!

And on the inside, a sentiment from Better Together!  And it wasn't intentional, but aren't these great colors for a Memorial Day weekend card, LOL!

I hope you'll play along with my sketch this week and be sure to check out what the DT created at the Paper Players blog as well!

John marched in his twentieth West Grove Memorial Day parade yesterday!!:

He also participated in the 21-gun salute (although that might not be the technical, military term for it, that's what I call it!):

Here he is, all dressed and ready to go before the parade:

And I sat on the curb next to this little cutie as I waited for the parade to begin:

She might not be as cute as Bella, but she got an A+ for patriotic friendliness!!  She wanted to give me lots of kisses, LOL! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

FMS338 and GDP139 Just a Note

Happy Friday, peeps!  A quick post today...Cassidy has no school, so we have some errands and things planned on this beautiful day!  My card uses the Freshly Made Sketches sketch as well as the Global Design Project prompt of "just a note to say....":

This didn't turn out exactly the way I pictured it in my mind, but it is still pretty, so I went with it:

I used a few new things as well as some old on my card; the Touches of Texture lace image was stamped three times on Very Vanilla cardstock in Soft Sky (retiring), Soft Sea Foam and Petal Pink (both new), then diecut with a die from the Stitched Labels Framelits (also new).  I stamped the sentiment from Better Together in Balmy Blue (new) and "stitched" the edges of the strip with another die from the same set.  For a little simple embellishment, I diecut a heart too...that little heart is my favorite die from that set...SO cute:

That's it...simple and easy!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!  We have the Memorial Day parade tomorrow with hot and humid weather predicted, looking forward to it!

The bus stop crew....Jackie, Lee and Cassidy!

Thanks for popping in today!freshly
